COLLEGE COURSES

COMPUTER ORGANIZATION
I covered binary number and codes, logic elements, combinational and sequential logic, and the architectural design of a computer using these elements, alongside concepts such as process and memory management.

COMPUTER SCIENCE
I learned fundamental concepts of programming in a high-level language while developing skills in problem solving, algorithm development, program design and structure, code documentation and style, and testing and debugging. Topics I covered include hardware and software systems, data types and variables, device/file input and output, flow control and functions, and use of basic data structures. I also learned principles and applications of object-oriented programming such as abstraction and encapsulation, classes and methods, objects and references, overloading, inheritance, polymorphism, interfaces, console/file input/output, dynamic data structures, generics, and GUI applications.

LINEAR ALGEBRA & MATRIX THEORY
I learned basic operations of n-tuples and matrices, geometric vectors, equations of lines and planes, systems of linear equations, row reduction of matrices, linear independence, determinants, alongside eigenvalues, eigenvectors, and vector spaces.

PROBABILITY & STATISTICS
I studied basic probability and a variety of probability distributions used in engineering modeling and reliability (expected life of products)—alongside linear regression and correlation, and hypothesis testing.

DISCRETE MATHEMATICS
An introduction to computer organization, I learned elementary logic, sets, permutations and combinations, induction, relations, digraphs, functions, trees, Warshall's Algorithm, and Boolean algebra.

ENGINEERING PHYSICS
Through in class activities and laboratory exercises—I examined calculus-based principles and applications of mechanics, covering topics including Newton’s laws, equilibrium, work, energy, power, momentum, and circular motion.

ENGLISH
I engaged in college-level academic writing and research by focusing on critical reading analysis, composing and revising strategies, writing for varied rhetorical purposes, and writing from sources. My studies focused on Western cultural movements such as the Enlightenment and Romanticism.

INDEPENDENT STUDY

MIT DATA SCIENCE AND MACHINE LEARNING
Massachusetts Institute of Technology

I participated in a course taught by eleven award-winning faculty and instructors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that incorporates Python programming and statistics to make data-driven decisions. Topics covered include the foundation of data science, making sense of unstructured data, regression and prediction, classification and hypothesis testing, deep learning, networking and graphical models, and generative artificial intelligence.

INTRODUCTION TO WEB DESIGN
John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth

I learned the basics of HTML and CSS. Topics covered include lists and tables, links, images, forms, video and audio, and CSS. Principles in web layout and design were also covered.

AP COMPUTER SCIENCE A
John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth

I expanded my knowledge in the Java Programming language. I learned about objects, boolean expressions and if statements, iteration, classes, 1D and multidimensional arrays, ArrayLists, inheritance, and recursion.

UNDERSTANDING COVID-19
Harvard, MIT, and Yale

I participated in lectures via Zoom led by professors and scientists from Harvard, MIT, and Yale. I also learned about COVID from doctors and patients, and discussed public policy with experts who developed Massachusetts's COVID-19 response.

BISHOPS LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Stonehill College | Archbishop Williams High School

My principal invited me to participate in a three-day overnight course at Stonehill College offered by Archbishop Williams High School. The program had challenged me to become a senior leader of my school, sharpened my discernment and decision-making skills, and skills to build senses of teamwork, unity, and confidence.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

ROBOTICS
I enrolled in an online competition called CoderZ that utilized block programming to control a virtual robot that could complete tasks during my freshman year of high school. I programmed a LEGO Spike robot sophomore year that would complete tasks on a map in the FIRST Lego League Challenge competition, which came in first place during the qualifiers and came in fifth place during the state championship. I constructed a robot out of extrusion pieces and 3D printed models made in Fusion 360, alongside programming a user-control interface and an autonomous period during junior year.

DEBATE
I sharpened my speech and debating skills by arguing in favor of the following topic:
“The United States ought to abolish the Electoral College with a direct popular vote.”

STUDENT COUNCIL
I served as Vice-President of the Sophomore class to plan events for the class and the school.

TECH CREW
I constructed and painted elements of the stage for a school play and a school musical.

FRENCH CLUB
I celebrated French culture and language through food and music.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

FIRST INSPIRES
I assisted judges in entering scores from the competition into their database. This was for the FIRST Lego League Challenge competition.

LUCY PARSONS BOOKSTORE
I worked with Prison Book Program, a branch of Lucy Parsons Bookstore, to package books to ship to those who request it at no cost.

THE OUTREACH PROGRAM
I packaged nutritious bags of food for those who otherwise would struggle finding food to eat.

CRADLES TO CRAYONS
I sorted through donated clothing to ensure that less-fortunate children and teenagers would receive quality clothing.
